One out of three American adults has prediabetes, and most of them do not know it. Having prediabetes means your blood glucose (sugar) level is higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. This raises your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Without weight loss or moderate physical activity, many people with prediabetes can develop type 2 diabetes within 5 years. The year-long lifestyle change program, developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, can help you make lasting changes to prevent type 2 diabetes.

Year-long program: classes meet once a week for 16 weeks, followed by every other week for 2.5 months, and then monthly meetings for the remaining 5 months; FREE (option to purchase class workbook or use free online handouts link).

One of the beautiful things about this whole system is the fact that you never have to tell anyone anything, they have your medical history in front of them. You just go to the front desk and say who you are, and you sign in and that’s it! The coordination of your health history is always right in front of whoever you are with and that’s wonderful.
