Recognizing the importance of behavioral health to your overall well-being, The Villages Health (TVH) has steadily expanded this component of our health care line-up. We've recently added two psychiatrists and two additional therapists, with plans to hire three more therapists in the near future. The goal is to have one therapist available to patients at each TVH Primary Care Center. Consistent with our philosophy of coordinated, patient-centered care, the therapists will work closely with your primary care physician and under the supervision of the psychiatrists.
The expansion of our behavioral health services is part of an extensive effort to treat every aspect of your health, from physical to emotional to psychological. These services are available to you as a patient receiving primary care through The Villages Health.
An estimated 20% of people, age 55 and older, suffer from a mental health concern.*
Our behavioral health services enable us to help patients dealing with problems such as anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and other concerns. Our behavioral health staff is skilled in treating problems such as the transition from work to retirement or changes in relationships such as those with a child or spouse. Studies show that patients with any sort of physical illness, particularly chronic illnesses, are more likely to have associated behavioral health issues. We offer a full range of treatment including diagnosis, counseling, therapy, and medication management.
Patients with diabetes and depression have worse outcomes, unless the depression is treated.**
The Villages Health changes how health care is provided to ensure you get the care needed for better overall outcomes. By offering additional visit time and having appropriate behavioral health staff available at our Primary Care Centers, we better serve your long-term needs and those of every patient, regardless of whether the issues are behavioral, physical, or a combination of both.
These services, which are provided by The Villages Health, are covered by UnitedHealthcare® Medicare Advantage plans.
