BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

Job Description:

A nonexempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties within the Behavioral Health Department of the medical practice. Involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and Licensed Clinical Therapists and Social Workers with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical service

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting.
  • Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for medial assistant exam preferred. Certified medical assistant certification preferred.
  • Documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office or facility
  • Current documentation of a national certification for the registered medical assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or for the certified medical assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), is required.
  • Must possess current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
  • 1-2 years working in a Behavioral Health setting preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and schedule all new psychiatric appointments
  • Provide triage and assessment for all routine Behavioral Health referrals leading to initial phone intake
  • Complete initial phone intake; Assessment interview with all new psychiatric patients
  • Provide support for administered intake questionnaire for all new psychiatric patients onsite, at first appointment
  • Provide feedback to the identified primary care physician and primary care team, regarding all plans outcomes dispositions on any identified or shared patients
  • Remain in continuous daily contact and communication with Behavioral Health Director or covering director regarding all new and ongoing clinical issues.
  • Review all new intakes and referrals with director or covering director on a daily basis
  • Directly communicate with all Behavioral Health community resources, manage referrals and referral network.
  • Manage and dispositioni of all routine patient phone calls, portal inquiries, etc.
  • Manage all email and Electronic Medical Record communication regarding Behavioral Health Team clinical issues.
  • Assist in onboarding new Behavioral Health Clinical personnel
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining Behavioral Health systems and directives.
  • Assist in analysis of statistical data gathered

MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
  • Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that include checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, undressing and dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls, and providing pertinent information.
  • Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating electronic medical record to ensure that information is complete.
  • Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned that may include setting up instruments and equipment according to protocols; cleaning visit/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; and restocking exam/procedure rooms.
  • Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor.
  • Fulfills clinical medical assisting responsibilities that vary according to state law, which may include medical/surgical asepsis, sterilization, instrument wrapping and autoclaving; checking vital signs or instruments; physical examination preparations; clinical pharmacology; drug administration through various routes including injections; prescription verifications with physician's orders; minor surgery assists including surgical tray set-up pre/post surgical care, applying dressings, and suture removal; biohazard waste disposal and monitoring; therapeutic modalities; instructing patients with home care; laboratory procedures including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines; quality control methods; CLIA-waived testing; capillary punctures and venipunctures; specimen handling such as urine, throat, vaginal, stool, and sputum; electrocardiography emergency triage) and first aid. Medical assistants must adhere to the MA scope of practice in the laboratory.

PATIENT ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

Job Description:

  • Manage Call Center and Patient Service Representatives
    • Effectively lead 10-15 extended staff members who have primary impact on TVH’s patient-consumer experience and develop them into TVH Brand Mavens – raving fans!
    • Ensure staff job objectives and professional development plans are specific, measurable and align directly with TVH priorities.
    • Develop and manage operational processes across the teams to continuously improve the patient-consumer experience.
    • Develop and manage a communication process to share and solicit 360 degree feedback.
  • Attract and Retain TVH Patients-Consumers
    • Participate in the development and facilitate the implementation of TVH marketing strategies including communication plans, social media and web interface.
    • Continuously develop and manage consumer-centric onboarding process for new patients.
    • Develop patient retention strategies through implementation of in-reach programs.
    • Be the TVH Brand Maven - raving fan - communicating TVH’s compelling value proposition to the community.

  • Contribute to Insurance Product Strategy
    • Be an expert in the insurance products/plans accepted by TVH and understand the ever-shifting competitive landscape, examples - Medicare Advantage, Employer Sponsored Retiree, Tricare For Life, Commercial.
    • Participate in ongoing development and support of TVH Medicare Strategy.
    • Work with TVH IT to develop monthly management reports and analyze trends in growth, patient mix, etc.
    • Interface with United Healthcare on activities related to marketing including National Medicare Education Week, Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) and Special Enrollment Periods (SEP).
    • Develop a collaborative relationship with health insurance agents and orient them to TVH, most importantly those staffing the Medicare Resource Centers.
  • Lead Cross- Functional Communication & Education Forums
    • Develop a supportive relationship with Care Center leadership and extended staff.
    • Facilitate all-staff education on Medicare Advantage.
    • Provide updates on staff priorities and feedback to TVH senior leadership team and Care Center leadership monthly.

Assists other healthcare professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
