Your primary care physician is your personal doctor who will lead a team of medical professionals, ensuring you get the right care. Unless you’re facing a life-threatening emergency, we encourage you to always call your primary care physician first when you aren’t feeling well. Primary care services include:

  • Wellness visits
  • Sick visits
  • Vaccines
  • Minor injuries
  • Non-life-threatening accidents

Specialty Care

If you and your doctor decide that your medical condition requires an expert in a particular field, you will be referred to one of our highly qualified specialists. Our growing specialists include:

Urgent Care

Primary care patients at The Villages Health have after hours on-call provider access to a variety of same day and after-hours urgent care services. Any time you are sick, in pain, or concerned about your well-being, all you have to do is call your care center to receive quick, convenient care in the comfort of your own care center. Urgent care services can treat the following conditions:

  • Headaches/migraines
  • Sinus issues, ear infections, cough, sore throat
  • Digestive discomfort and minor gastrointestinal problems, including gas pain
  • Sprains, strains, sports injuries
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Dizziness or vertigo
  • Cuts, burns contusions, other non-life-threatening injuries
  • Concerns or flare-ups with pre-existing conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis and more)
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Back pain

Hospital Care

We do all we can to keep you out of the hospital, but if you are admitted, we will help you before, during and after your stay with one or all of the following:

  • A hospitalist
  • A visit from your primary care doctor
  • A nurse navigator
  • A follow-up visit once you are sent home

I came in wearing two hearing aids and Dr. Monterro asked why I was wearing two hearing aids and I said “Well, I guess it’s because I have a hearing loss” and she said, “I understand that, but your hearing is perfect in your right ear, it’s the left ear that has a hearing loss and you only needed one hearing aid." I was very impressed with the honesty and integrity in addition to her skills. She also has a great personality.
